Contests at the 2007 Eastern Sports & Outdoor Show®
Test your skills and win valuable prizes! There are exciting contests to enter or observe every day of the show. Whether your specialty is calling duck, sounding like an elk bugling, or casting, there's something for everyone, young and not-so-young alike.
Bassmaster Casting Kids
Sunday, February 4 All day beginning at 10:00am
Open to young people in two age groups, 7-10 and 11-14, the goals of this competition are to involve young people in fishing and to foster an appreciation for our outdoors. Bassmaster CastingKids competitions are similar to the old NFL punt, pass, and kick events, except the challenge is to flip, pitch and cast. Every competitor receives a certificate of competition and a copy of BASSMASTER Casting Kids Magazine, while the winner of each event in each age group will receive a rod and reel from Zebco and a medallion.
Owl Hooting Contest
Sunday, February 4 at 1:00pm
Presented by the Michaux-Yellow Breeches Local Chapter of the PA Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. NWTF members compete Sunday, February 4th at 1:00pm in the Small Arena. For more information, please call Don Heckman (717) 763-6062.
Pennsylvania Turkey Calling Contest
Sunday, February 4 at 1:00pm
Professional Friction, Professional Open, Youth and Amateur Adult competitions are presented by the Michaux-Yellow Breeches Local Chapter of the PA Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. Keystone Regional Duck & Goose Calling Contest
Wednesday, February 7 at 4:00pm Registration opens at 3:30pm
Presented by the Susquehanna River Waterfowlers Association. The registration fee for each contest is $20.00. Northeastern States Elk Calling Contest
Thursday, February 8 at 5:30pm Registration opens at 4:00pm
Presented by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Each contestant gives two types of calls – one bull and one cow/calf call. The contest will take place in the Small Arena. Knife & Hawk Championships
Saturday, February 10 at 6:00pm Registration opens at 5:00pm
Presented by The PA Federation of Muzzleloaders. Daily winners return for championship competition on Saturday, February 10th at 6 PM. Knives and hawks must meet modified NMLRA rules. There is a $2 entry fee. Contestants have 5 throws each with knife and hawk for a combined score and must complete one full turn before striking target. PA 3-D Bowhunters Challenge
Sunday, February 3-Sunday, February 11 All day beginning at 10:00am
Presented by The PA 3-D Bowhunters. Individual and Progessive Pot Money Shoot qualifying rounds will take place February 3-10th (till approximately 1 PM on the 10th). Daily winners for FBO/FBR/FSR, MCBH, MBF, MSR and MBR return for individual qualifying finals shoot-off on Saturday, February 10th at 2:15 PM. MBO and Open Money classes return on the same day at 5:15 PM. Daily winners for the CUB, TRD, MRU, YMR 13-14 and YMR 15-17 classes return for individual qualifying finals shoot-off on Sunday, February 11th at 10:30 AM. FHC, MHC and Hunter Money classes return for their finals shoot-off on the same day at 1:30 PM. There is a $15 entry fee for adults and seniors, an $8 entry fee for youth and a $5 fee for cubs. There is a $30 entry fee for the Progressive Pot Money Shoot. Sunday, February 4th is 12 and under Kids FREE Archery Shooting time from 3:30-5 PM. Show Venue and Location
The Eastern Outdoor Sports Show is held at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex, which is located along Cameron and Maclay Streets in Harrisburg, just off Exit 67A of Interstate 81. Message boards and Keystone signs will direct show visitors onto alternate routes to alleviate traffic congestion on I-81. Other arteries include Route 39, Route 22/322, Route 230 and Elmerton Avenue. Click here to see a locator map
From the West Shore or Carlisle: Take I-81 North to Cameron Street, Exit 67A. From Cameron Street turn left at the first traffic light, then proceed up the hill to the Farm Show Complex Parking.
From downtown Harrisburg: Take Second Street North to the 2100 block and turn right onto Maclay Street. Follow Maclay Street East across the railroad bridge to the traffic light at the Farm Show Building. Turn left onto Cameron Street and travel North to the next traffic light. Turn right and proceed to the Farm Show Complex Parking Lot.
From the North: Take Routes 11-15 South following the Susquehanna River to I-81. Follow I-81 North across the river, then take Cameron Street Exit 67A. Turn left at the first traffic light and proceed up the hill to the Farm Show Complex Parking Lot.
From the Upper Dauphin area: Take Route 147 South or Route 225 South to Route 322 (River Relief Route). Route 322 becomes Cameron Street after crossing over I-81. From Cameron Street, turn left at the first traffic light, then proceed up the hill and take a right into the Farm Show Complex Parking Lot.
From Hershey: Take US-322 West to I-83. Follow I-83 North and merge with I-81 South. Take Cameron Street Exit 67A. Turn left at the first traffic light into the Farm Show Complex Parking Lot.
From Lancaster: Take PA-283 North toward Harrisburg to I-83. Follow I-83 North and merge with I-81 South. Take Cameron Street Exit 67A. Turn left at the first traffic light into the Farm Show Complex Parking Lot.
From York: Take I-83 North across the Susquehanna River to the east shore of Harrisburg. Follow I-83 to the north and merge with I-81 South. Take Cameron Street Exit 67A. Turn left at the first traffic light into the Farm Show Complex Parking Lot.
From Lebanon: Take I-81 South toward Harrisburg. Take Cameron Street Exit 67A. Turn right at the first traffic light then left into the Farm Show Complex Parking Lot.
From the Pennsylvania Turnpike Traveling West: Take Exit 19. Travel North on PA-283, which merges with I-83. Follow I-83 North and merge with I-81 South. Take Cameron Street Exit 67A. Turn right at the first traffic light, then left into the Farm Show Complex Parking Lot.
From the Pennsylvania Turnpike traveling East: Take Exit 236. Travel north on Route 15 to 581 West, continuing on Route 581 West, merge onto I-81 North (north of Enola). Follow I-81 North across the Susquehanna River, then take the Cameron Street Exit 67A. Turn right at the first traffic light and then left into the Farm Show Complex Parking Lot.
From the Harrisburg International Airport: Take 283 North (towards Harrisburg) to I-83 North. Then take I-81 South. Take Exit 67A (Cameron Street). Turn right at first traffic light. At the next light make a left into the Farm Show Complex Parking Lot.
