Wildlife Encounters

Wildlife Encounters is a program designed to help Michigan citizens increase their knowledge and appreciation of our valuable wildlife resources.  This program was developed by the Michigan United Conservation Clubs in cooperation with the Michigan State University Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, College of Veterinary Medicine.  Wildlife Encounters programs feature native Michigan wildlife that have been permanently disabled and can't be returned to the wild or are obtained from licensed captive breeders.

During presentations, live animals are used to highlight a wide range of wildlife concepts including information on the animals' biology, life history, adaptations, myths, and wildlife problems.  Ecological relationships, such as habitat requirements, species interactions, and population status in Michigan are also discussed.  The 45-60 minute presentations are kept lively and entertaining, and provide an opportunity for the audience to ask questions.

Antique & Classic Fishing Tackle & Sporting Collectables

You have heard that old fishermen never die, they just smell that way.  According to the members of the Michigan Lure Collectors Club, antique tackle retains all the allure of exciting fishing trips of days gone by -- withiout any ancient aroma.  Club member Terry McBurney is leading the group that will set up a huge display.  Bring in your old tackle for free appraisals.  Who knows, you may have a fortune rusting away in that old tackle box of your Grandpa's.  McBurney, along with several other experts will be on hand to show and discuss antique Coleman camping equipment, fishing tackle and all sorts of outdoors sporting gear.  This is the biggest display of antiques and collectables ever to visit the show.
